Are Your Fears Real?

Does the fear of failing mean more to you than the fear of succeeding?  An interesting way to look at fear itself.

There are some very good reasons to be fearful of certain things but the majority of our fears are not logical.  We tend to scoff at certain things, such as spiders, bats and possibly the sight of blood.

Is it real or are our emotions getting the best of us?  If someone truly has a phobia for spiders, do we have to make fun of them or is it best to try to understand their fears and work with them.

Here are a few other traits that emotionally comfortable people might display.

1) Not repeating the same mistakes over and over again.  Usually one time will give you the signal that this didn’t work, so now it is better to try something different or do it some other way.

2) Acting too quickly without surveying the overall situation.  Just making sure that you have all your bases covered is one of the basics in beginning a new involvement or a new business.

3) Thinking you can do it alone.  One of the best investments you can make is to find a mentor that has been successful and ask for their help and guidance.  This alone will save you an enormous amount of time as well as getting you on the right track.

4) Giving up!  This might be the biggest of all the guides in which you can stay in the game or give up on it.  Too many prospects will give up on their dreams because it doesn’t happen quickly enough. Anything that is worth doing is worth doing right and having the patience to follow it through.  This is truly where the successes appear – by sticking to something and never giving up on your dreams!

  1. Who’s that famous guy who said it best John? “There’s nothing to fear, but fear itself”

We all have fears of something, but we all also make up a lot of those fears in our own minds I think.

    As always, great read!

  2. “Fear is a guest in your house that has overstayed its welcome.”

I’ve been using that one for a while. Right along with what you said in this post, John. Fear is usually a byproduct of something that happened in the past, that we’re hanging onto for no particularly good reason.

    Great stuff, as always. 🙂
